MASS.GOV
The official web and social media presence for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
As the lead Social Media Analyst for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, it was my task to oversee, develop, edit, and provide insights for all digital content published by official state social media accounts and the Mass.gov blog. I created social and content strategies for state agencies across Massachusetts, teaching employees best practices and content optimization skills. I organized and executed digital town hall meetings between state agencies and constituents via social media, including the state’s first Twitter Town Hall. Additionally, I hired and managed a team of 5-7 interns per semester to provide support in the creation of blog posts, social media assets, copywriting, and graphics for state agencies. Overall, my team’s hard work and commitment grew traffic 175% to Mass.gov’s blog and resulted in a 35% increase in follower growth on social platforms.
Examples:
Key highlights from my Mass.gov work:
Grew the @MassGov account 25% percent, making them the #1 state social media account on Twitter (as of 2015).
Increased visibility of state services such as the Silent Call 911 Procedure. Posts about the procedure went viral on Facebook, with press coverage by MassLive.com and Snopes.
Worked collaboratively with agencies across the state on social media strategy and messaging for the Boston Marathon from 2014-2015.
Coordinated with the governor’s office to switch over the official governor social media handles from Deval Patrick to Charlie Baker after the 2014 Massachusetts gubernatorial election, a first for a governor’s office on Twitter.
